Merendree is also known as a castle village. Near the Kale, opposite of each other, there are Castle Ter Wallen and Castle of Merendree. Castle Ter Wallen is an 18th-19th century old building behind an authentic rampart and a gate with battlements. The Castle of Merendree is a neoclassical building in the middle of a defined park.
