Zulte, just as its boroughs Olsene and Machelen have a strong relation with the Golden River.
Four famous residents help to spread the name and fame of this Lys-village: playwright Gaston Martens, artistic painters Modest Huys, Georges Dheedene and Roger Raveel.  To each of them,  there is a dedicatet walking route, in which the artists and the Lys are focalised. The writer Gerard van het Reve also found his final resting place here.

The East Flemish municipality of Zulte lies in the Lys region just across the border between East and West Flanders. Our municipality is crossed by the river Lys and two main regional roads, namely the N43 (Ghent – Courtrai) and the N459 (Oudenaarde – Tielt). Adjacent, there is the E-17motorway with direct entrance and exit roads in Olsene.
