The Lys-region can also be discovered along a self-made cycling route base on the cycling network. Lys-region East or with the aid of themed routes and provincial and local bicycle and walking maps. We’ve got something for everyone, do you prefer the more artistic places or do you want to find yourself surrounded by nature.
If you like, a greeter would be able to show you around or tag along. He/she is an enthusiastic local who voluntarily shows groups of maximum 6 people around. Especially ‘couleur locale’ and the spontaneity are important here. The Tourist guides deliver a more historic or art loving background along a set route.
The eastern-flemisch Lys-region has also known real ‘Flandriens‘ (cyclists). Near the church in Deinze/Wontergem stands a statue made from granite and bronze, of the legendary tour winner Lucien Buysse. Lucien was born in Wontrgem and won the Tour de France in 1926.
