Lys-region East or with the aid of themed routes and provincial and local bicycle and walking maps. We’ve got something for everyone, do you prefer the more artistic places or do you want to find yourself surrounded by nature.

If you like, a greeter would be able to show you around or tag along. He/she is an enthusiastic local who voluntarily shows groups of maximum 6 people around. Especially ‘couleur locale’ and the spontaneity are important here. The Tourist guides deliver a more historic or art loving background along a set route.

Lucien Buyze

The eastern-flemisch Lys-region has also known real ‘Flandriens‘ (cyclists). Near the church in Deinze/Wontergem stands a statue made from granite and bronze, of the legendary tour winner Lucien Buysse. Lucien was born in Wontrgem and won the Tour de France in 1926.

The Lys is and will continue to be your ‘route companion’. The self-service ferry Bathio at Vosselareput is one you need to operate with your own arms, turning a wheel, to get you across. In Sint-Martens-Latem you are served and get tot ride the free ferry if you arrive between the regular hours of service.

May 1st through September 30th and Easter holidays: – workdays from 7h30 till 12h30 and from 14h till 19h
– Saturday, Sunday & holidays from 9h till 12h and from 13h to 19h
October 1st through April 30th: only on Saturday, Sunday & holidaysenkel from  9 to 12h and from 13 to 19h
Attention: doesn’t leave after sunset
