On ‘Te Lake’ Castle, still today there are old fragments of coppice woodland. To the west are the floodplains of the old river Lys and the Mandel. Wet meadows accomodate typical plant species from wet lowlands. Central in the area, there is a sandy little hill, a pleistocene dune which stands for ‘donk’ in Dutch.
