From 12 May to 31 October 2020, architecture and art lovers can indulge themselves during a short stay at the House Van Wassenhove. Those who want to spend a weekend in this modernist masterpiece can book the house for a summer stay of 3 days/2 nights. the House Van Wassenhove is designed by architect Juliaan Lampens and was built between 1972 and 1974 in Sint-Martens-Latem. The client was bachelor Albert Van Wassenhove, teacher with a great love for modern art and architecture. For him, Juliaan Lampens built a house of concrete, wood and glass, in which all living functions merge into one another: no rooms, but one open space. The massiveness of the concrete is broken by the warmth of the wood and the ever-changing play of incident light. Basic geometric shapes structure the interior: the sleeping space is a circle, the kitchen a triangle, the desk a square. More than just a play of shapes and lines, the house succeeds in redefining our perception of living. Thanks to the various walking and cycling routes in the area, the house is also the ideal base to explore Sint-Martens-Latem and the Leie region. Two bicycles are available.
