In St.-Martens-Latem, the Lys, in all her grace and splendour, meets art lovers.

These qualitative strenghts are due to the presence of beautiful Lys meanders and the related riparian landscapes. Latem and of course also Deurle village, are both as picked from an postcard. At the beginning of the twentieth century, there was an artist colony at this place. The Latem groups produced many impressionistic and expressionistic masterpieces. Not infrequently Latem and Deurle were the source of inspiration. Also today, art appears to be an important theme thanks to the presence of many museums, artist homes and galleries.
