On the stunning domain of Sint-Martens-Latem of nearly 3 hectare, lies the city Gevaert-Minne Museum. Edgar Gevaert, son of an industrial in Oudenaarde, is painter, writer, poet and composer. In 1916 he weds Marie Minne, daughter of a sculptor. In the beginning of the year 1920, the newlywed couple gain land at both sides of the ‘Kapitteldreef’. With a style that uses both monastic and gothic influences together with those of a cottage he builds his countryside dream. The building now is a preserved monument showing rare wealth.
